Andreas Lynen 

Job tittle: Outdoor and nature based Youth worker 

This month we introduce you to Andreas. Andreas oversees the management of the roundhouse as well as supporting with the delivery of our sessions with specialist knowledge in outdoor and nature based youth work. 

How long have you been a Youth Worker? 

I recently relocated to Bristol after working as a youth worker in Belgium for 8 years.  

Why Youth Work? 

For me Youth work is all about seeing strengths and potential in every individual. Everyone possesses unique talents and qualities, and it's essential to acknowledge and nurture these strengths.

What do you enjoy most about your job? 

As a youth worker, you have to be creative and flexible because each day is different. I like the challenge  of come up with new ideas, activities  and approaches to support young people. 

Who inspires you?  

All people I live and work closely with. 

Tell us a fun or interesting fact about you?  

I am studying bristolian slang.

 What’s your best memory at work?

Completing an 80 km multiple-day hike with a group of young people who had never walked more than 10 km before, all while carrying food and gear along the way. 

What are you passionate about? 

I love going on small and big adventures, whether it is ultrarunning, hiking on trails with my dog or sleeping in a forest. I love to challenge myself physically and mentally. I also love exploring different cultures and cuisines. Cooking helps me relax after a stressful day. 

What are the challenges?  

Bringing structure in my very interesting life.

Energetic.
