Eugene Furniss

My name is Eugene (They/them) and I'm one of the sessional worker at Skittles. It's really wonderful to be part of the team at YM and to be making a difference in young people's lives! 

My journey in youth work began at mental health charity Off The Record through initially being involved in their volunteering scheme. I did various things, including helping at pop ups, promotion of services, and volunteering at the Saturday Hub drop ins. I'm also very passionate about bringing meditation practices to the world. I'm currently doing a mindfulness teacher training qualification, which has more recently led me to teaching mindfulness to lgbt youth my age!

Other passions and interests of mine include anything creative (Like literally, anything) such as writing, music and art. I love to tell stories and write scripts for my own tv shows in my spare time - No I'm not a professional filmmaker, but hopefully one day! I also love to draw, (try) to learn Guitar, read and to connect with people as I'm very social.

I would describe myself as kind-hearted, attentive and a deep listener as well as making weird jokes and hoping that people understand my odd sense of humour.
